The Button Mashers

Canoe’s new video game blog, Button Mashers, of which I am a contributor, has officially launched, and we’ve already got lots of great content up.

That includes my first of many planned Q&As with folks from the gaming industry or video game culture. This one’s with Katherine Curtis, a.k.a., The Naked Nerd from Naked News (where, fun fact, I used to be a writer).

Curtis made a really fun interview, chatting about women in gaming, playing games with your kids, turning nerdom into a career and more. Here’s one choice quote:

And when I’m playing online, I’m not there to make friends or get dates. I’m there to kill things and collect loot.

Sheena Goodyear, as seen on TV

I made my national TV debut recently, appearing on Sun News Network to discuss our national sex survey’s results on the prevalence of online dating in Canada (hint: it’s up).

The video is not embeddable, so click here to watch, and click here for the story that accompanies the facts, wherein I interview Internet trends experts, online daters and one man who met his wife of 10 years on the Internet, who offered the following wisdom:

Whatever you want, you can find it. If you want to dress like a duck with someone else you can do that. If you just want to fool around, you can find that.
